Innovative Solutions for African Livestock Farming: Phytopro's Breakthroughs

During the webinar held on March 26, 2025, on the theme "African Livestock Farming in the Era of Transformation: Innovating, Performing, and Prospering," Yosra Tahri, founder of Phytopro (Tunisia), highlighted two groundbreaking innovations in the pipeline. These innovations have the potential to revolutionize the livestock industry in Africa and beyond.

Plant-Based Additive Reduces Mortality Rate

The first innovation is an additive based on plants, which could decrease the mortality rate in livestock. This breakthrough is the result of 10 years of research and development. According to Tahri, "Our trials have yielded spectacular results, with a 5% increase in profitability and a 30% reduction in mortality rate." She noted that the mortality rate in Senegal is higher than in Tunisia, and their natural product has been successful in simulating the immune system and combating common diseases.

Hydrosoluble Solution Improves Respiratory Function and Yield

The second innovation is a hydrosoluble solution that enhances respiratory function and yield. This solution is the culmination of 10 years of research and development. Tahri emphasized that their approach not only improves the profitability of livestock farming but also addresses the global issue of antibiotic resistance. By limiting the use of antibiotics, Phytopro's solution contributes to a more sustainable and responsible livestock industry.

Promoting Autonomy and Local Capacity Building

Tahri stressed that Phytopro's approach is not only about sovereignty but also about contributing to the global effort to resolve the issue of antibiotic resistance. "Our approach promotes the autonomy of farmers without relying on foreign products, with more accessible solutions that strengthen local African capacities and support researchers working on preserving livestock."

The webinar, organized by Managers as part of the Wings Growth Boost seminar series, brought together experts from Senegal, Mauritania, and Tunisia to discuss opportunities for collaboration in the livestock industry. The event was supported by the WING4Africa program, funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and implemented by Expertise France.
