Henley & Partners Releases 2025 World's Wealthiest Cities Report
Nine African Cities Make the Cut in Global Ranking of Centi-Millionaires
The British consultancy firm Henley & Partners, in partnership with New World Wealth, has published the 2025 edition of its World's Wealthiest Cities Report, ranking 141 cities according to the number of centi-millionaires – individuals with a liquid investable wealth of at least $100 million.
Among them, only nine African cities feature in the ranking. Leading the continent is Cape Town (34 centi-millionnaires), followed by Cairo (27), Johannesburg (24), Cape Winelands (18), Marrakech (14), Umhlanga & Ballito (12), Lagos (12), Casablanca (11), and Nairobi (11).
The report specifies that the "wealth" considered only includes liquid assets: listed shares, bonds, cash, and cryptocurrencies. At the continental level, only 350 centi-millionnaires are recorded, concentrated in a few economic hubs. South Africa, the most industrialized country in Africa, dominates with several cities present in the ranking.
On a global scale, the United States leads the way, with 11 cities in the top 50. New York takes the top spot with 818 centi-millionnaires and 66 billionaires among a total of 384,500 wealthy individuals.
