Wajih Rekik, CEO of CHO America, has been elected Vice President of the North American Olive Oil Association (NAOOA), according to a publication by CHO Group. This nomination solidifies Tunisian olive oil's presence and credibility on the global stage, marking a significant milestone for CHO Group.
This achievement is the culmination of a 20-year strategy initiated by CHO Group's founder, Abdelaziz Makhloufi, to make a bottle proudly labeled "Tunisia" an international reference.
The group emphasizes that this success is built on a 100% Tunisian value chain, "constructed with rigor and perseverance, with the constant support of the Tunisian state and its institutions, which have played a key role in supporting exports, promoting Tunisian quality, and defending the country's interests internationally."
Tunisia's Olive Oil Industry: A Global Player
Tunisia ranks 4th globally in olive oil production, with a 10% market share, according to Minister of Commerce and Export Development Samir Abid. Moreover, Tunisia has won 60 gold medals and secured first place at the Global International Olive Oil Competitions (GIOOC) in Abu Dhabi in April 2025.
According to World Population Review (2023-2024), Tunisia is the 4th largest olive oil producer, with approximately 200,000 tonnes, behind Spain (766,400 t), Italy (288,900 t), and Turkey (210,000 t). This performance testifies to the high quality of Tunisian olive oil and increases the competitiveness of the Tunisian sector on the international stage.
