Tunisian Taekwondo Athlete Wafa Mesghouni Wins World Title
Tunisian athlete Wafa Mesghouni has won the world taekwondo title in the -60 kg category, defeating Hungarian champion Marton Viviana, the Olympic and world champion, with a score of 2-0 at the World Championships held in China.
This victory brings Tunisia its second gold medal in the competition, following the win of Mohamed Khalil Jendoubi in the -63 kg category, who dominated Iranian athlete Ali Haj Mousaei.
On her path to the title, Wafa Mesghouni successfully defeated:
- Uzbek athlete Sevinch Khayitova with a score of 2-1
- Thai athlete Sasikarn Tongchan with a score of 2-1
- Polish athlete Julia Szpak with a score of 2-0 in the quarterfinals
- Australian athlete Gabriella Blewitt with a score of 2-0 in the semifinals
With this win, Mesghouni confirms the talent of Tunisian taekwondo on the international stage and adds a new gold medal to the country's record.
