Fewer Car Brands Offer Affordable Vehicles in Tunisia
The President of the National Chamber of Automobile Dealers and Constructors, Ibrahim Debech, stated in a radio declaration on Mosaïque FM that the number of car brands offering affordable vehicles has decreased from thirteen to only seven.
The withdrawal of certain brands from the affordable vehicle program in Tunisia is explained by the manufacturers' abandonment of producing vehicles that meet the technical specifications defined by the terms of reference, such as 1.2L engines with a fiscal power of 4 horsepower. Furthermore, the government's decision to cap the price of these vehicles at 35,000 dinars has pushed several brands to withdraw, as their cars no longer meet this restriction.
Ibrahim Debech also highlighted that several dealers are waiting for a revision of this cap by the Ministry of Commerce to allow more brands to participate in the program. He recalled that the annual quota for affordable vehicles is 10,000 units, across all brands.
