Launch of the Green and Digital Competitiveness Support Infrastructure for the Textile-Clothing Sector
The Technical Center for Textiles (Cettex) launched the "Green and Digital Competitiveness Support Infrastructure for the Textile-Clothing Sector" on December 10, 2025, in Ben Arous, under the supervision of the Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub.
Objective of the Initiative
This initiative aims to support companies in the sector in their digital and ecological transition, in order to strengthen their competitiveness in international markets, particularly European ones. According to the minister, the textile-clothing sector remains a pillar of the Tunisian economy, representing nearly 20% of national exports and 30% of industrial companies and jobs. With expected exports of 10 billion dinars in 2025, this sector is crucial for the country's economy.
Features of the Cettex
Equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories conforming to international standards, the Cettex has benefited from investments of around 1 million euros, financed by the European Union and BMZ. This initiative is part of Tunisia's response to the requirements of the European Green Deal, as "nearly 80% of companies in the sector are exporters," recalls the director general of Cettex, Mohsen Missaoui.
Project Support
The project is supported by the "Qualitative Growth for Employment" (CQE) project, funded by the EU and BMZ and implemented by GIZ, in partnership with the Ministry of Industry.
