Entrepreneurs in Côte d'Ivoire and Tunisia Discuss Financing Challenges and Opportunities
A meeting was held today, November 22, by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation Tunisia and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation West Africa - Côte d'Ivoire. The event was organized in collaboration with African Business Leaders and Africa Business - Continuing Professional Training & Incubator. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by entrepreneurs.
Financing was one of the key points discussed during the meeting. In fact, financing startups and businesses in Côte d'Ivoire and Tunisia raises concerns. However, significant financing opportunities exist, both nationally and internationally, through funds, grants, and prizes dedicated to sustainable development. One participant emphasized that financing is available, but accessing it requires meeting the required criteria and partnering with the right organizations. According to her, the question of financing largely depends on the willingness of startups, which must adopt a proactive approach, including constant monitoring of accessible grants.
Speakers stressed the importance of structuring a solid business model and developing clear strategies to capture these financial resources. Mechanisms such as "grants" facilitate business growth by providing non-repayable funds. These funds support various aspects, including training, marketing, research, and development. For example, international prizes can offer financing of up to $500,000, accessible provided that the established requirements are met.
Innovation, collaboration, and research are identified as key elements to maximize the impact of received financing, thus promoting sustainable development of startups. Contrary to popular belief, significant financial resources exist, both in Africa and Europe. However, obtaining them depends on the quality of proposals and the ability of businesses to mobilize the right human and strategic means to achieve this.
