Tunisian Minister Calls for Innovative Financing to Support Water and Agriculture Projects in Africa
The Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh, has called for the mobilization of innovative financing to support water and agriculture projects in Africa. This statement was made during the 14th session of the General Assembly of the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW), held on September 29, 2025, in Dakar, in the presence of high-level officials from several African countries.
Adoption of the African Water Vision 2063
The meeting marked an important milestone with the adoption of the African Water Vision 2063. This continental strategy aims to strengthen water security, increase resilience to climate change, and support the transition to sustainable development.

In his intervention, the Minister reaffirmed Tunisia's commitment to contributing to the success of this vision, particularly through the exchange of expertise in water resource mobilization, desalination, and reuse of treated water. He also highlighted the importance of Maghreb and African cooperation in managing groundwater, essential for ensuring the future of food security.
Implementation of the 2026-2033 Action Plan
The Tunisian Minister also emphasized his country's willingness to actively participate in the implementation of the 2026-2033 action plan, aimed at aligning national priorities with continental objectives.

On the sidelines of this meeting, Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh held several bilateral meetings with his African counterparts to examine cooperation opportunities and share successful experiences in water and agricultural security.
