Vietnam Airlines Expands Fleet with 50 Boeing 737-8 Aircraft
Vietnam Airlines has purchased 50 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, with the signing ceremony taking place in Washington, in the presence of Boeing and Vietnamese authorities. These new planes will join the airline's existing fleet of 17 Boeing 787 aircraft, which are currently used for long-haul flights.
Key Features of the Boeing 737-8
- Each aircraft can transport 200 passengers over a distance of 3,500 nautical miles
- The planes will be primarily used for domestic and Asia-Pacific flights
Modernization and Growth
The acquisition of these modern aircraft will not only upgrade Vietnam Airlines' fleet but also improve its profitability. According to Boeing, the 737-8 consumes 20-25% less fuel than its predecessors. The airline aims to have a total of 151 aircraft in its fleet by 2030. This order comes at a time of sustained recovery in the global aviation industry, and is expected to support the company's growth and expansion plans.
