Tunisia Takes a Leap in Automotive Sector Development
Tunisia has reached a new milestone in the development of its automotive sector with the inauguration of the first industrial site of the Chinese group Jetty Automotive Technology in Borj Cédria, in the governorate of Ben Arous, on Monday, September 8, 2025. The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub.
Project Overview
The project, carried by the subsidiary Jieyi Automotive Technology, represents an investment of nearly 24 million dinars. Specialized in the production of high-quality automotive cables, it constitutes the first implantation of the group in Tunisia. According to the ministry, this factory is expected to generate 700 direct jobs by 2026, thus strengthening the country's industrial attractiveness.
Economic Relations and National Strategy
According to the published statement, the minister emphasized that this investment illustrates the willingness to consolidate Tunisian-Chinese economic relations while supporting the national strategy aimed at developing sectors with high technological value. She recalled that the Tunisian automotive components industry, which includes over 300 companies, has recorded an average annual growth of 12% over the past decade and already employs nearly 120,000 people.
Expansion Strategy
On his part, the CEO of the group, Wang Chao, accompanied by the General Manager of Jieyi Automotive, Dong Junbo, stated that this implantation in Tunisia responds to an expansion strategy aimed at getting closer to European and African markets. The Jetty Automotive group, which has over 7,000 employees worldwide and collaborates with international manufacturers such as BMW, Audi, and BYD, sees Tunisia as a strategic hub for developing its activities.
