Tunisian Neurosurgeons Achieve Medical Breakthrough with Endoscopic Endonasal Brain Tumor Ablation

A team of Tunisian neurosurgeons, in collaboration with German experts, successfully performed the first endoscopic endonasal ablation of a brain tumor on Friday, May 24, at the University Hospital Fattouma Bourguiba in Monastir.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, this delicate four-hour operation was broadcast live to students and specialized doctors in neurosurgery, endocrinology, and otorhinolaryngology, from the operating room to the amphitheater of the Faculty of Medicine in Monastir.

The operation was a complete success, with the tumor being entirely removed without complications or the need for resuscitation, thanks to the joint effort of the medical and paramedical teams from the departments of neurosurgery, otorhinolaryngology, and anesthesiology-resuscitation.

Today, Saturday, May 25, 2024, the Faculty of Medicine in Monastir is organizing conferences to discuss the complexity and finesse of such interventions, benefiting students, doctors, and specialists.
