Prominent Ambassadors, Dignitaries, and University Officials Gather to Launch Hazem Ben-Gacem Scholarship Program for Arab Students

On Thursday, June 26, esteemed ambassadors, dignitaries, and university officials convened at Tsinghua University in China to mark the official launch of the Hazem Ben-Gacem Scholarship Program, a historic initiative aimed at providing Arab students with access to world-class education, fostering academic excellence, and promoting intercultural collaboration.

This year, the scholarship program will fund six students from Arab League member countries pursuing master's degrees at Tsinghua University. This is the first scholarship program specifically designed for Arab students at Tsinghua University, with the goal of strengthening Sino-Arab relations.

Tsinghua University, one of China's top universities, is renowned for its excellence in technology and engineering, often compared to MIT. Founded in 1911, it has 20 faculties and 90 undergraduate programs, covering a wide range of disciplines. Tsinghua alumni have made significant contributions to China's economic, cultural, scientific, and technological development, and beyond. The current Chinese President, Xi Jinping, is also an alumnus of this prestigious university.

"For over a thousand years, the Arab region and China have been linked by dynamic exchanges of goods, knowledge, and cultural dialogue. By giving brilliant Arab students the opportunity to study at Tsinghua, a beacon of academic excellence in China, we aspire to develop leaders who will perpetuate this spirit of curiosity and collaboration, making Arab-Chinese relations a model of cooperation in an increasingly fragmented world. The scholarship program offers an excellent opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to pursue their studies at a world-renowned university," said Hazem Ben-Gacem, founder and CEO of BlueFive Capital.

"The Hazem Ben-Gacem Scholarship Program for Arab students represents an important step in Tsinghua's commitment to nurturing international talent. By welcoming these exceptional students from the Arab world, we enrich our campus intellectually and culturally, and offer them a unique opportunity to benefit from Tsinghua's rigorous academic environment. We are deeply grateful to Mr. Ben-Gacem for this visionary collaboration, which will strengthen the bonds between our peoples and foster our common progress," said Professor Yang Bin, Vice-Chancellor of Tsinghua University.

The Hazem Ben-Gacem Scholarship Program for Arab students will commence this academic year (2025-2026).
