Tunisian Embassy in Tokyo Takes a Major Step in Improving Consular Services
The Tunisian Embassy in Tokyo has reached a significant milestone in enhancing its consular services: a brand-new unit for producing biometric passports (machine-readable) has been installed within its premises.
What's Changing
No more prolonged waiting periods due to international postal mail. Starting Monday, February 9, 2026, the embassy will be able to process your requests directly on-site. This service applies to:
- Renewing your passport
- Obtaining a first passport for your children
Faster Service
This development is the result of close collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, and the Ministry of Interior. The goal is clear: to provide Tunisians living in Japan with a more streamlined, modern, and efficient public service. It is worth noting that an appointment must be made before visiting the embassy to submit your application.
