Tunisia and Italy Strengthen Digital Cooperation with New Memorandum of Understanding
On Monday, May 27, 2024, Tunisia and Italy signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at consolidating their efforts in the digital field and its applications in industry.
Boosting Economic and Industrial Initiatives
The agreement, signed by Minister of Technologies Nizar Ben Néji and Italian Minister of Economic Development, aims to promote economic and industrial initiatives. It seeks to facilitate investments and projects between Tunisian and Italian companies through business forums, seminars, and workshops involving government institutions and associations representing entrepreneurs.
Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation in Technology Transfer
The memorandum also aims to reinforce bilateral cooperation in technology transfer through the sharing of expertise and knowledge in research, innovation, and the development of new skills.
Facilitating Project Implementation and AI Development
The agreement also aims to facilitate the implementation of projects in the public and private sectors, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence and its industrial applications.
Italian Commitment to AI Development in Tunisia
The Italian minister announced his country's commitment, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, to create a center dedicated to artificial intelligence to promote sustainable development in Tunisia.
Strategic Partnership in Digital Sector
Minister Ben Néji highlighted the strategic importance of Italy as a partner for Tunisia, particularly in the digital sector and entrepreneurship. He recalled previous joint initiatives, such as the development of the "Lab Innova" program, which supports Tunisian startups in realizing joint projects with their Italian counterparts, and the activation of a memorandum of understanding signed in September 2023 to strengthen cooperation in cybersecurity.
