Ministry of Transport Launches Project to Regulate and Optimize Non-Regular Public Transportation Systems
The Ministry of Transport has launched a project aimed at better organizing and utilizing electronic systems and platforms for non-regular public transportation of individuals, particularly individual taxis. As of November 28, 2024, the regulatory update in this area has begun.
This initiative is part of the ministry's effort to strengthen the organization of the non-regular transportation sector while respecting competition and transparency standards.
Among the measures taken, on-site control campaigns will be intensified to combat abuses in the transportation sector. This includes infractions such as refusing to transport passengers, lack of signaling on vehicles, and non-compliance with applicable tariffs.
The ministry also plans to launch a Tunisian digital application dedicated to this sector. This application, which will be developed and hosted in Tunisia, is expected to be operational by the end of the first half of 2025, once it has met the requirements for information security and personal data protection.
Through this project, the ministry aims to modernize non-regular public transportation services by integrating digital solutions, in line with the national digital transformation strategy.
