National Fund for the Promotion of Crafts and Small Trades (Fonapra)

Among the public financing mechanisms designed to support entrepreneurs is the National Fund for the Promotion of Crafts and Small Trades (Fonapra). However, many project holders do not take advantage of this opportunity.

Purpose and Eligibility

This mechanism aims to finance activities related to crafts, small trades, or liberal professions. The total cost of a project, including working capital, is capped at 100,000 TND for higher education graduates and 50,000 TND for other profiles.

Funding Allocation

According to the 2026 finance bill, an allocation of 9 million TND is expected to be granted to this fund, which will also benefit from repayments made by former borrowers, estimated at 17 million TND. The objective is to co-finance 2,480 projects, representing a total investment of 125 million TND.

Fonapra Competition Details

The Fonapra competition includes:

  • A grant to complement the constitution of the necessary capital for the project's realization. This grant is interest-free and repayable over a period of 11 years, with a maximum grace period of 7 years.
  • A medium-term loan, based on a study conducted by your bank.
  • An investment premium of 6 to 25% of the investment cost, depending on the project's location. This premium is awarded in three installments as follows:
    • 30% when 30% of the approved investment cost is achieved.
    • 30% when 60% of the approved investment cost is achieved.
    • 40% when the project becomes effectively operational.

By providing access to funding and support, the Fonapra aims to promote the development of crafts, small trades, and liberal professions, contributing to the growth of the economy and the creation of new opportunities for entrepreneurs.
