Introduction of New 50-Dinar Banknote in Tunisia
The Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) has announced the introduction of a new 50-dinar banknote (type 2022) into circulation, starting from September 23, 2025. This decision follows a deliberation by the BCT's Board of Directors on June 20, 2024.
Key Features of the New Banknote
According to official note No. 2025-142 addressed to banks and the National Post Office, the new banknote retains the same motifs, characteristics, and security elements as the existing one, with two notable differences:
- The issue date is now "25-07-2025" instead of "20-03-2022", printed in larger characters.
- The signatures have been updated, featuring the signature of BCT Governor Fethi Zouhaier Nouri and Vice-Governor Mourad Abdessalem.
Circulation and Continuity
The Central Bank emphasizes that the new 50-dinar banknote will circulate in parallel with the existing banknotes of the same type, ensuring continuity in the country's fiscal and monetary management. This move aims to maintain the stability and integrity of Tunisia's financial system.
