Kairouan Region to Host Major Industrial Investment

The Kairouan region is set to welcome one of the most significant industrial investments in recent years, with the laying of the foundation stone of the fifth unit of the Korean Yura Corporation, a project estimated at 50 million dinars and capable of generating over 2,000 direct jobs. The announcement was made on Tuesday, December 2, during a ceremony supervised by the Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, in the Kairouan 2 industrial zone.

According to the ministry's statement published on December 2, 2025, this new industrial unit marks a major milestone for the Tunisian automotive components sector, which has succeeded in attracting high-tech investments in recent years. The minister emphasized that this project represents not only an industrial extension but also a significant lever for creating employment, stimulating exports, and strengthening Tunisia's integration into the global automotive value chains.

The choice of Yura Corporation to invest again in Tunisia is not coincidental. Since its establishment in 2007, the group has already developed four industrial units in the country, taking advantage of the quality of infrastructure, the availability of skilled labor, and Tunisia's strategic position between Europe and Africa. The minister also confirmed that a sixth unit is planned in Metbasta, still in the Kairouan governorate, by 2026, indicating a sustainable investment dynamic in the region.

For his part, the group's executive president, Park Dongil, described Tunisia as a "strategic center" linking Europe and North Africa, an asset that, in his opinion, makes the country one of the most attractive destinations for the automotive industry. He highlighted the exceptional quality of Tunisian skills, capable of producing automotive cables according to the most demanding international standards.

The company plans to use the most advanced technologies in the sector while relying on national skills, a model that consolidates both local employment and technology transfer. The new unit will produce automotive cables for the world's most renowned brands, further strengthening Tunisia's presence in international markets.

Beyond the 2,000 jobs created by this new unit, Yura Corporation plans to provide around 8,500 jobs in total in the Kairouan region through all its sites in the coming years. This volume of jobs, associated with an activity oriented towards more than 90% export, suggests a significant economic impact in terms of generating foreign exchange, dynamizing the local industrial fabric, and upgrading skills.

Founded in 1995 in South Korea, Yura Corporation is now active in 15 countries and operates through 22 industrial units. With this new step in Kairouan, the group confirms its strategic anchorage in Tunisia and contributes to positioning the country as an essential hub for the automotive components industry.
