Uber Launches "Uber for Teens" Service in the Middle East
Aware of the unique needs of 13- to 17-year-olds, Uber has unveiled a new service specifically designed for teenagers, dubbed "Uber for teens". Available now in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Jordan, this offering aims to enhance family mobility and provide parents with peace of mind.
Filling a Market Gap
Uber's recent initiative addresses a significant gap in the market by providing secure and reliable transportation options for 13- to 17-year-olds. In response to parental concerns about transportation options for their children, Uber has developed a system that allows young people to have their own Uber account, linked to their family profile.
How it Works
Parents can invite family members to create their own Uber account via the family profile in the app. Once the invitation is accepted, teenagers receive a link to download the app, create their own account, and set up necessary security settings during sign-up. With real-time tracking, parents (or legal guardians in the event of parental loss) can monitor trip details, including the driver's identity, vehicle details, and route taken.
Enhanced Safety Features
Additionally, identification verification is required before boarding, and the app uses sensors and GPS data to detect any unexpected deviations or stops during the trip. It also verifies the safety of both the passenger and driver.
By providing a safe and reliable transportation solution for teenagers, Uber aims to alleviate parental concerns and provide families with greater mobility and flexibility.
