Tunisia Launches National Investment Platform to Simplify Administrative Procedures

As of July 1st, investors in Tunisia will have access to a new tool designed to simplify the process of creating a business or making an investment in the country. A national platform will centralize administrative services related to investment, aiming to become the single point of contact for investors from the launch of their project to the development of their business.

Objective: Reduce Delays and Simplify Procedures

The platform's objective is to reduce delays, limit formalities, and facilitate exchanges with administrations. According to Hatem Souissi, Central Director at the Tunisian Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA), this interface will connect existing public platforms to avoid multiple procedures for investors. The system will rely on the company's unique identifier and electronic signature to secure and accelerate procedures.

More Than Just an Administrative Portal

The authorities hope to make this tool a lever for improving the business climate. Investors will be able to track their files, request support, and report administrative blockages that may delay their projects. This launch is part of a larger digital transformation project initiated in 2022, where several public agencies have developed their own online platforms, which until now operated in a dispersed manner.

A Strategic Position in the Region

This modernization comes as Tunisia seeks to strengthen its attractiveness to investors, in a context of increased competition between regional economies. Beyond simplifying procedures, the country also highlights its strategic position and privileged access to several international markets. As a commercial partner of the European Union since the 1995 association agreement, Tunisia is also engaged in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which came into effect in 2022.

A Promising Market

This African common market plans to gradually eliminate customs duties to reach "zero tariff" by 2030, offering new prospects for companies established in the country. The question remains whether this platform will meet one of the main expectations of investors: faster procedures, better-coordinated administration, and finally simplified procedures.

Key Features of the Platform

  • Centralization of administrative services related to investment
  • Unique identifier for companies
  • Electronic signature for secure and accelerated procedures
  • Ability to track files and request support
  • Reporting of administrative blockages

The success of this platform will depend on its ability to simplify administrative procedures and improve the business climate in Tunisia, making it a more attractive destination for investors.
