Launch of New Infrastructure to Boost Competitiveness, Ecological Transition, and Digitalization of the Textile and Clothing Sector
The Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy has announced the launch of a new infrastructure aimed at strengthening the competitiveness, ecological transition, and digitalization of the textile and clothing sector. The event was inaugurated on December 10 at the headquarters of the Textile Technical Center.
Importance of the Textile Sector in the National Economy
The minister highlighted the significant weight of the textile sector in the national economy. The sector represents around 20% of the country's total exports and nearly 30% of industrial enterprises and jobs in the manufacturing sector. Exports are expected to reach 10 billion dinars by the end of the year, representing a growth rate of 1.5%.
Investment of One Million Euros to Modernize the Textile Technical Center
The most significant announcement concerns the strengthening of the Textile Technical Center's structure, thanks to an investment of approximately one million euros, funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). This investment has enabled the center to be equipped with modernized laboratories using recent technologies that conform to international standards. These facilities now allow for high-precision analysis and control, meeting the needs of clients at both national and international levels.
Part of the National Roadmap to Improve Sector Performance
The minister emphasized that this initiative is an integral part of the national roadmap aimed at improving the sector's performance, gaining new markets, and strengthening the competitiveness of Tunisian textiles. She specified that support for green and digital competitiveness is an essential step in meeting the environmental requirements imposed internationally.
New Services Aligned with National Industry and Innovation Strategy
The new services offered by the center are part of the major axes of the national industry and innovation strategy, aiming to modernize production, encourage quality, and support sector enterprises in achieving higher standards.
