Tunisia Signs $50 Million Deal with South Korean Consortium to Implement Land Information System
A contract worth $50 million (approximately 149 million Tunisian dinars) was signed on Monday in Tunis between the Tunisian Office of Topography and Cadastre (OTC) and the South Korean consortium "Samsung C&T Consortium", comprising five companies.
The strategic project aims to digitize the OTC's archives, establish a land database, and develop an integrated cadastral system. It also includes the installation of a national data center, the deployment of infrastructure in the 24 OTC districts, and the enhancement of technical skills in the field.
The three-year project will be carried out in partnership with two Tunisian companies: the New Construction Company (SNC) for the data center, and GEOTOP for digitization.
Minister of Equipment and Housing, Slah Zouari, recalled that this project is part of the national strategy for digitalizing public services and improving the business climate. It stems from a loan agreement signed on July 2021 with the Korea Export-Import Bank, following the signing of the EDCF arrangement between the two governments on May 31, 2021, for a total amount of $60 million.
This cooperation is based on a bilateral partnership launched in 2014, particularly through a first study on the feasibility of the land information system carried out in 2018 with the support of the Korea-Eximbank.
