In a bid to foster cooperation and activate relationships between financial and technical institutions to encourage project creation, entrepreneurship, and investment in the agricultural sector, Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh, Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries, accompanied by Hamadi Habib, Secretary of State for Water Resources, presided over the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
The agreement brings together the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (APIA), the General Directorate of Rural Engineering and Water Exploitation, the Tunisian Solidarity Bank (BTS), and the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GIZ).
Objective: Supporting Young Entrepreneurs in Agricultural Projects
The primary objective of this agreement is to support and accompany young individuals interested in creating agricultural projects by offering them financing mechanisms through the Irrigated Areas Valorization Project. This project, which focuses on developing value chains in the governorates of Kairouan, Kasserine, and Sidi Bouzid, is funded by the African Development Bank and implemented through the joint efforts of several stakeholders.
By providing financing opportunities, this cooperation aims to empower young entrepreneurs to launch successful agricultural projects, thereby contributing to the growth and development of the sector.
