2024-2025 Citrus Export Campaign Sees Significant Growth
The 2024-2025 citrus export campaign has recorded a total volume of 12, generating revenue of 37.74 million dinars. This figure marks a significant improvement compared to the previous season, with a 46% increase in volume and a 28% increase in value.
This performance, highlighted in the latest report by the National Observatory of Agriculture (Onagri), testifies to the resilience of the sector in the face of difficulties. The Libyan market has made a significant contribution to the dynamics, absorbing 52.6% of total citrus exports. France comes in second place with 45.8%, followed by Gulf countries at 1.4%.
Exports of Maltese oranges, which account for around 45% of total citrus exports, have experienced a slight decline in the French market. However, the pace of shipments to Libya has seen significant development, allowing for compensation.
The exported varieties are mainly divided between Maltese oranges (45%), Navels (30%), and lemons (22%). Despite these encouraging results, Onagri stresses the importance of continuing efforts to diversify outlets, improve product quality, and strengthen logistical capacities to maintain the competitiveness of the Tunisian sector on international markets.
