Tunisian Automotive Market Sees Dynamic Growth in 2025
The Tunisian automotive market experienced a dynamic year in 2025, with a total of 93,095 vehicles sold, compared to 79,369 in 2024. This represents a significant increase of 17.3% over the past year.
Sales Growth Across All Segments
This growth is observed in both authorized dealerships and the parallel market. Authorized dealerships sold 63,903 vehicles, up from 57,137 in 2024, representing an 11.8% increase. The parallel market, which includes used vehicles and sales outside official channels, saw even stronger growth, with 29,192 sales, compared to 22,232 the previous year, representing a 31.3% increase. As a result, the parallel market's share of total sales rose from 28% to 31%.
Asian Brands Dominate New Vehicle Sales
Statistics show that Asian brands dominate the market for new vehicles sold by authorized dealerships. Among the top seven best-selling brands, only one European brand appears, and a French brand ranks third.
Growing Demand for Utility Vehicles
Demand for utility vehicles also increased, with sales reaching 16,887 units in 2025, compared to 14,787 in 2024, representing a 14% increase. However, this segment remains dominated by European brands, which occupy four of the top five positions.
Electric Vehicle Market Remains Marginal
The market for electric vehicles remains limited, with only 539 units registered in 2025. A Chinese brand leads the market with 178 units sold. This limited adoption is due to high prices, ranging from 80,000 to 90,000 dinars, and up to 300,000 dinars for certain models. It's worth noting that the Tunisian government has approved tax measures in the 2026 finance law, including a reduction in value-added tax for electric vehicles, to encourage their adoption.
Popular Cars Regain Success
Finally, popular cars have regained their popularity, with authorized dealerships selling 9,138 units, compared to 6,688 in 2024. This is the first time in several years that the threshold of 9,000 popular vehicles sold has been exceeded. Eight dealerships were active in this segment, and a Chinese brand dominated with 2,032 sales, compared to 1,000 the previous year. The average prices of these vehicles ranged from 26,790 to 35,433 dinars.
