Tunisia's Dam Fill Rate Reaches 24.2% Following Recent Rainfall
Thanks to recent precipitation, Tunisia's dam fill rate has once again surpassed the 24% mark, reaching precisely 24.2% as of January 13, 2025, according to a report by the National Observatory of Agriculture (Onagri). This figure represents a significant improvement compared to the critical situation in November 2024, when the rate had dropped to a record low of 19.6%.
This progress marks the best rate recorded since August 16, 2024, a period marked by a continuous decline in water reserves. However, despite this improvement, the country's main dams still display worrying fill levels, ranging from 7% to 40%, far from the 50% necessary to ensure optimal resource management.
The situation remains fragile, albeit with a slight recovery, and highlights the importance of rigorous water management and investments in hydraulic infrastructure to address growing climate challenges.
