Tunisian Air Traffic Sees Notable Increase in First Eight Months of 2024

The Tunisian Department of Civil Aviation and Airports announced on September 4 that the number of flights over Tunisian territory reached 40,567, a 16.3% increase compared to 2023.

The total number of aircraft movements also increased, reaching 53,033 flights, a 5.8% rise. Tunis-Carthage Airport recorded 39,256 flights (+6.1%), Djerba-Zarzis Airport saw 11,173 flights (+8.7%), and Tozeur-Nefta Airport experienced a significant surge with 292 flights (+53.7%). On the other hand, Sfax-Thyna and Tabarka-Aïn Draham airports recorded a decrease of 8.5% and 2.4%, respectively.

In terms of passengers, the total number reached 6,478,566, a 9.4% increase. Tunis-Carthage Airport welcomed 4,844,705 travelers (+8.7%), Djerba-Zarzis Airport saw 1,502,315 passengers (+12.4%), and Tozeur-Nefta Airport had 19,461 passengers (+116.3%). However, Sfax-Thyna Airport saw a 3.3% decrease in passengers, with 108,983 travelers. Tabarka-Aïn Draham Airport experienced a slight increase with 2,009 passengers (+1.6%).

Overall, Tunisian airports welcomed 8,436,553 passengers, recording a 12.8% growth compared to the previous year.
