A New Milestone in the Modernization of Tunisian Local Administration

A significant step has been taken in the modernization of Tunisian local administration. The Academy of Municipalities, under the National Federation of Tunisian Municipalities (FNCT), has announced the launch of a pilot unit dedicated to the digitization of municipal public services. This initiative, a first of its kind, aims to support municipalities in their digital transition and strengthen the skills of their officials in this essential area.

Objectives and Benefits

The creation of this unit marks a significant innovation in the Tunisian municipal landscape. It will enable local officials to receive training on essential topics such as:

  • Open data
  • Evaluation of the digital maturity of municipalities The goal is to build more efficient, transparent, and effective local administrations that can provide quality public services using digital tools.

First Training Session

The first training session took place on October 18 and 19, 2025, bringing together 29 municipal representatives, including general secretaries and information system managers. The program combines theoretical courses, practical workshops, and online sessions via the Academy's digital platform. At the end of the course, participants receive a certified certificate.

Future Plans

Presented as a model experience, this unit will be evaluated before being integrated into the Academy of Municipalities' annual program. The FNCT aims to expand this training to a larger number of municipalities to disseminate digital skills across the entire territory, marking a new era in the modernization of Tunisian local administration.
