Warning Sounded on the State of Social Security System

Mohamed El-Abed, Central Director of Joint Technical Services at the National Social Security Fund (Cnss), has sounded the alarm on the worrying state of the social security system. Despite fragile finances and limited resources, he assured that the situation is not yet critical, allowing the Cnss to continue honoring its commitments, including the payment of retirees' pensions.

Speaking yesterday at an event dedicated to social amnesty for late payment penalties, El-Abed clarified that the fund is not in imminent danger, but that growing debt is hindering its ability to fully meet its obligations, particularly towards the National Health Insurance Fund (Cnam).

He emphasized the importance of social amnesty as a key lever to rectify the financial situation. In this regard, he encouraged businesses and self-employed individuals to seize this opportunity to regularize their situation and contribute to stabilizing the system.
