Tunisia and the African Development Bank Sign Financing Agreement to Support Road Infrastructure Development
The Tunisian government and the African Development Bank (AfDB) signed a financing agreement on Friday, January 24, 2025, to support the third phase of the road infrastructure development project. The agreement, signed at the government palace in Kasbah under the supervision of Prime Minister Kamel Maddouri, aims to improve the quality of the road network, enhance road safety, and adapt infrastructure to the effects of climate change.
The project involves the rehabilitation and expansion of 188.9 km of roads across eight axes in the governorates of Siliana, Kasserine, Kairouan, Sfax, Le Kef, Sousse, and Gafsa. These works aim to modernize the classified road network, improve economic mobility, and promote regional development.
According to an official statement, Malin Blomberg, AfDB representative, recalled that this project is part of a long-standing cooperation that has already enabled the modernization of over 4,000 km of roads and the construction of hundreds of artworks over the past decades.
