5% Increase in Bilateral Export Growth

According to the Export Promotion Center, Tunisian exports to China have shown an average annual growth rate of 5%, with an estimated trade volume of $1.8 billion in 2024. Key products include olive oil ($68 million), seafood ($43 million), and dates ($2.6 million). During a roundtable organized by the Cepex, Tunisian businesses explored opportunities and challenges in accessing the Chinese market, strengthening prospects for expansion and cooperation with Chinese customs.

Sino-African Conference in Tunisia!

The 22nd China Conference, held in Tunis on February 22, 2025, brought together over 100 Chinese and Tunisian participants to discuss Sino-African cooperation and modernization of Southern countries. Organized by the China-Africa Institute and the ISLT, the conference explored themes such as poverty reduction in China, Sino-Tunisian cooperation, and the inspiration of the Chinese model for Africa. Speakers, including Hichem Messaoudi from ISLT and Houda Hazami from the Higher Institute of Management, highlighted the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative for Tunisia, as well as growth opportunities in digital and infrastructure sectors. Zhou Yunfan from the China-Africa Institute recalled the commitments made at the 2024 FOCAC Summit to deepen Sino-African cooperation and support modernization of Southern countries.

Ministry of Agriculture Meets with Chinese Representatives

A working meeting was held on February 20, 2025, at the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Maritime Fisheries, bringing together a delegation of Chinese customs officials, Tunisian officials, and representatives from the Export Promotion Center and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Discussions focused on facilitating Tunisian agricultural exports (olive oil, dates, seafood) to China, by lifting technical and sanitary barriers. This meeting, following the official Tunisian visits to China in 2024, aims to strengthen agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
