Tunisia-China Trade Sees 8% Growth in 2024, with Untapped Export Potential

In 2024, trade exchanges between Tunisia and China witnessed a significant growth of 9.2 billion dinars, representing an 8% increase compared to 2023, according to figures from the Centre for Export Promotion (CEPEX).

Despite this progress, Tunisia's export potential to China remains largely underutilized. It stands at approximately 214 million dollars (around 613.5 million Tunisian dinars), with particularly interesting opportunities in key sectors, including:

  • 20 million dollars for olive oil
  • 15 million dollars for seafood products
  • 2.5 million dollars for dates

These figures reveal a significant lever to reduce the trade deficit between the two countries and strive for a more balanced bilateral trade.

Strengthening Economic Ties

To reinforce these economic relations, a high-level delegation from the Chinese "Wuhan Yangluo Port Services Group" is currently visiting Tunisia until July 29. Specialized in international trade, logistics, finance, and investment, the group is actively exploring partnership opportunities on the Tunisian market, both in terms of importing Tunisian products and investing in promising sectors.

The group's executive director, Xu Baowei, emphasized the strategic importance of this visit in building solid bridges between Tunisian and Chinese enterprises and strengthening bilateral economic cooperation.

Business to Business Meetings

In this context, CEPEX organized Business to Business (B to B) meetings on Wednesday between the delegation members and 25 Tunisian enterprises identified as having high export potential to China. These promising exchanges pave the way for new business opportunities and could be decisive in boosting Tunisian exports.
