**Tunisian Olive Oil Exports See 40.1 Increase in Volume, 28.9% Decrease in Revenue

The National Observatory of Agriculture (Onagri) has published its report on Tunisian olive oil exports from November 2024 to April 2025. The report reveals a 40.1% increase in exported volumes, but a 28.9% decrease in revenue.

Export Volumes and Revenue

During the first six months of the 2024-2025 campaign, exports reached 180,200 tonnes, compared to 128,700 tonnes during the same period of the previous exercise. Bottled olive oil accounts for only 11.9% of this total, with the remaining 88.1% being exported in bulk. This marks a slight progression compared to the 2023-2024 campaign, where bottled olive oil accounted for 11%. Extra virgin olive oil dominates exports, representing 82.5% of the total volume.

In terms of revenue, exports generated 2.44 billion dinars by the end of April 2025, compared to 3.44 billion dinars during the same period of the previous campaign. Bottled olive oil accounts for only 17.7% of these revenues.

Price and Destination

In April 2025, the average price of olive oil dropped by 48.9% compared to the same month of the previous year.

The European market remains the primary destination, absorbing 59.5% of the exported volume, followed by North America (24.9%) and Africa (9.6%).

Italy tops the list of importing countries, with 29% of the volume sold during the first six months of the 2024-2025 campaign, followed by Spain (26%) and the United States (19.6%).

Organic Olive Oil Exports

Organic olive oil exports reached 34,300 tonnes by the end of April 2025, generating approximately 469.1 million dinars. However, the share of bottled olive oil in this category remains low, not exceeding 5% of the exported volume. The average price per kilo is established at 13.68 dinars, ranging from 13.47 dinars for bulk olive oil to 17.65 dinars for bottled olive oil.

Italy is also the primary client for this category, with 58% of the exported volume, followed by Spain (21%) and the United States (11%).
