Tunisia and World Bank Discuss Strengthening Strategic Partnership
The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ben Ayed, received Alexandre Arrobbio, Resident Representative of the World Bank in Tunisia, and Sarah Morsy, Resident Representative of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), at the ministry's headquarters on Monday, June 30.
This meeting provided an opportunity to review the progress of cooperation between Tunisia and the World Bank, founded on a strategic partnership spanning over sixty years. The discussions focused on ongoing projects, particularly those aimed at stimulating the country's economic and social development.
Mohamed Ben Ayed praised the solidity of this historical collaboration and emphasized the importance of reinforcing actions supporting the structural reforms undertaken by Tunisia. He recalled that these reforms are part of the National Development Plan 2026-2030, currently being elaborated through a participatory and inclusive approach. The Secretary of State also highlighted the key role of these projects in promoting good governance, reducing regional inequalities, and ensuring social justice.
For their part, Alexandre Arrobbio and Sarah Morsy reaffirmed the World Bank's commitment to supporting Tunisia in its transformation efforts. They underscored the support provided through the financing of large-scale projects within the framework of public-private partnerships.
Sarah Morsy specifically mentioned that the IFC actively supports job-creating projects, particularly in the renewable energy and agro-industry sectors. She expressed the desire to further strengthen this cooperation to better respond to national development priorities.
