Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries Receives Belgian Development Agency Director
The Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries received the Director General of the Belgian Development Agency (ENABEL) on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, accompanied by a delegation comprising representatives from the Walloon Province of Water and the Belgian Ambassador to Tunisia. The exchanges focused on strengthening the Tunisian-Belgian partnership, with an emphasis on financing a project dedicated to sustainable groundwater management. This program would include several initiatives, such as:
- Developing a real-time monitoring network for groundwater levels
- Installing smart meters at agricultural farms
- Creating a digital platform for managing water-related data and documents
During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the solidity of bilateral relations and the importance of Belgian expertise in strategic areas, including digitization and climate change adaptation. Beyond water management, cooperation could extend to other key sectors such as:
- Forest preservation
- Agricultural production
- Fisheries
- Higher agricultural education
