Tunisia and Algeria Sign 25 Cooperation Agreements
Tunisia and Algeria signed 25 cooperation agreements, memoranda of understanding, and executive programs on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Kasbah in Tunis, following the 23rd session of the Tunisian-Algerian Joint Commission. The ceremony was chaired by the Head of the Tunisian Government, Sarra Zaafrani Zanzri, and the Algerian Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb.
Key Sectors of Cooperation
These agreements cover a wide range of strategic sectors, including:
- Combating money laundering, terrorism financing, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the insurance sector
- Cooperation in international road transport of passengers
- Harmonization of accreditation systems
- Strengthening diplomatic training
- Promoting women's, family, childhood, and elderly rights for the period 2026-2028
Media, Communication, and Energy
The cooperation extends to:
- Media and communication, with agreements between press agencies and audiovisual institutions of the two countries
- Water and energy management, with partnerships established for resource exploitation and renewable energy development
- Fisheries, aquaculture, investment, and economy, which will benefit from joint programs
- Culture, sports, and youth, with executive programs planned for 2026-2027
Health, Industry, and Employment
Agreements have been signed in the fields of:
- Health and pharmaceutical industry, aiming to strengthen health cooperation and pharmaceutical production
- Employment and vocational training, with twinning agreements between labor inspections and training institutions
- Intellectual property and insurance, allowing for information exchange and harmonization of practices between the two countries
Strengthening Historical and Economic Ties
Sarra Zaafrani emphasized that these agreements "consolidate the historical and economic ties between the two countries and open the way to new opportunities for collaboration." The ceremony concluded with the signing of the minutes of the 23rd session of the Joint Commission, marking a significant step in strengthening Tunisian-Algerian relations.
