Tunisia and France Sign Five Financing Agreements Worth €54 Million

The Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh, and the Executive Director of the French Development Agency (AFD), Philippe Orliange, signed five financing agreements totaling €54 million (approximately 180 million Tunisian dinars). The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Anne Guéguen, Ambassador of France, and Abdelhamid Mnaja, CEO of the National Water Distribution Company.

Details of the Agreements

The agreements include:

  • Three loans worth €42 million (approximately 140 million dinars) dedicated to:
    • Reinforcing and securing the supply of drinking water in the Greater Tunis region
    • Strengthening the drinking water system in the Center-West, Sahel, and Sfax regions
  • Two grants totaling €12 million (approximately 40 million dinars), including:
    • €2 million in technical support for economic empowerment programs
    • Support for vocational training and employment

Ceremony and Visit

The ceremony was held on Friday, September 12, 2025, during Philippe Orliange's working visit to Tunisia.

Statements

Samir Abdelhafidh highlighted the quality of cooperation between Tunisia and the AFD, emphasizing the desire to intensify and diversify this collaboration, aligned with national development priorities and objectives, particularly in the areas of water security, economic empowerment, and vocational training.
