Ministry of Equipment and Housing Announces Flood Protection Projects


The Ministry of Equipment and Housing has announced the implementation of 253 flood protection projects by September 2024, with a budget of 659.1 million dinars.

Projects to Protect Cities and Residential Areas


The projects, carried out in various governorates, aim to protect cities and residential areas from flooding. In addition to the already completed projects, 39 others are underway, progressing at varying rates.

Maintenance of Hydraulic Installations


The maintenance of hydraulic installations was also discussed: 2,000 km of canals and approximately 52 hectares of watersheds have been cleaned so far in 2024.

Risk Management Studies


In parallel, 39 flood risk management studies, covering 24 governorates, are underway with a total budget of 13.3 million dinars, including 12 million dedicated to a strategic study. For 2025, new projects estimated at 51 million dinars are also proposed.

Addressing Challenges and Coordination


The meeting also addressed the challenges faced, such as waste disposal in certain infrastructure, and emphasized the necessary coordination between authorities to resolve these issues.
