Measures Taken to Address Disruptions at Tunisair

Following the major disruptions that affected Tunisair flights from November 1st to 5th, 2024, the Ministry of Transport has taken a series of measures to remedy the situation and strengthen governance within the national airline.

The disruptions, caused by irresponsible acts that resulted in material damage to several aircraft, led the Minister of Transport to make repeated visits to Tunis-Carthage Airport, including a nighttime visit on November 2nd.

To restore order and protect Tunisair's image, important decisions have been made, including the dismissal of the following officials: the Director General of Tunisair Technics, the Director General of the Tunisian Catering Company, the Secretary General, and the Central Director in charge of Procurement. Additionally, a new Director General of Tunisair has been appointed, and disciplinary and legal actions will be taken against those responsible for the observed shortcomings.

Structurally, the Minister has ordered the rapid implementation of a recovery program for Tunisair. This program includes the design of an urgent rescue plan, associated with a medium-term restructuring, as well as the adoption of a new governance model adapted to the company's needs.

It also provides for the revision of regulations to improve competitiveness, better management of human resources, regularity of flights, and improvement of service quality.

To strengthen its crisis management, Tunisair will need to update its procedures guide proactively, with a particular emphasis on transparency and the effectiveness of institutional communication.

A new communication platform will also be set up to provide passengers and partners with accurate and timely information, avoiding any confusion.

Finally, the Ministry of Transport affirms that it will closely monitor the situation in collaboration with Tunisair and announces that further measures will be taken to ensure the sustainability and radiance of the national airline.
