Tunisair to Operate 14 Aircraft by May 2025, Announces Transport Minister

Transport Minister Rachid Amri announced that Tunisair plans to operate 14 aircraft by the end of May 2025.

During a plenary session at the Assembly of the People's Representatives (ARP), the minister specified that there is a restructuring plan for the airline.

The minister indicated that Tunisair's fleet consists of 18 aircraft in 2024, compared to 28 in 2010, and that the company went through a critical period during which it operated only 6 or 7 aircraft.

The minister recalled that his department has put in place a plan to gradually increase the number of operational aircraft, aiming to reach a total of 11, in addition to the 3 currently leased aircraft.

He added that the company should have 12 aircraft from May 15th. The rescue plan for Tunisair relies essentially on the rehabilitation of the largest number of aircraft currently grounded at airports.

Finally, Amri indicated that the remaining 4 aircraft of the 18-aircraft fleet will be put back into service by the end of the year. He emphasized that a simple engine diagnosis can cost between 40 and 50 thousand dinars, which requires substantial financial resources to ensure the maintenance of the fleet.
