Tunisia to Host the African Center of Excellence for Inclusive Markets

Tunisia will officially host the headquarters of the African Center of Excellence for Inclusive Markets. The Tunisian Parliament (ARP) made the decision on Tuesday, voting overwhelmingly in favor of the bill that ratifies the agreement signed in July 2022 with the African Union Commission - 92 deputies voted in favor, while only 6 abstained or refused. Behind this vote lies a clear ambition: to make Tunis a true African capital of economic innovation. The African Center of Excellence for Inclusive Markets (CAEMI) is not just another regional organization. According to the ARP, it is intended to tackle concrete problems - youth unemployment, the exclusion of women from the formal economy, and the lack of financing that has been suffocating small businesses for years. Tunisia is thus joining the dynamic of the African Union's Agenda 2063 program, which aims to structurally transform the continent. Now, it remains to be seen if this center will deliver on its promises in practice.
