Trump Continues to Reshape American Diplomacy
President Donald Trump is pushing forward with the reorganization of American diplomacy. As part of this effort, Bill Bazzi, the mayor of Dearborn Heights in Michigan and a staunch Trump supporter, has been appointed as the new US Ambassador to Tunisia, replacing Joey R. Hood, who has been in the post since February 2023.
This decision comes on the heels of the appointment of Amer Ghalib, the mayor of Hamtramck, as the American ambassador to Kuwait, highlighting the growing influence of Arab and Muslim political leaders under the Trump administration.
Bazzi expressed his gratitude, saying: "Today, I feel immense honor and deep gratitude for the trust that President Trump has placed in me by appointing me as the US Ambassador to Tunisia. Among the many nations I've had the opportunity to discover over the years, I have a particular affinity for Tunisia..."
