General Transport Federation Reaffirms Commitment to General Strike
The General Transport Federation reaffirmed on Tuesday its commitment to a general strike in the sector on July 30, 31, and August 1. This decision follows the failure of the negotiation session with the government, which refused all union proposals, according to a Federation statement.
Affected Entities
The strike will affect the National Interurban Transport Company, the Tunis Transport Company, as well as all regional public road transport companies.
Defending Public Transport and Workers' Rights
"This measure aims to defend the public transport service and protect the rights of agents and workers in the face of government indifference," the statement emphasized.
National Responsibility
According to the Federation, saving the sector is a shared national responsibility that can only be achieved through a genuine partnership between all stakeholders.
Previous Calls for Responsibility
Before this session, the Federation had called on the government, through a statement, to take responsibility by proposing concrete solutions to restore confidence and engage in a genuine reform of the sector.
Negotiation Blockage
The Federation, however, deplores a persistent blockage in negotiations due to the slowness of responses and the absence of firm decisions from the government, despite the gravity of the situation and the mounting stakes threatening the future of the sector.
