Passenger Air Traffic via Tunisian Airports Sees 8.8% Increase in First Five Months of 2024
The passenger air traffic via Tunisian airports has witnessed an increase during the first five months of 2024, recording an 8.8% rise compared to the same period last year. This positive figure reaches 3,313,607 "passenger movements," according to statistics published by the Office of Civil Aviation and Airports (OACA).
This upward trend has been observed in most airports across the country. Tunis-Carthage International Airport recorded an 8.2% increase, with a total of 2,665,641 passenger movements.
Djerba-Zarzis International Airport followed with a 9.3% increase, accounting for 565,709 passenger movements. Notable increases were also observed at Sfax-Thyna International Airport (16.3%), Tozeur-Nefta International Airport (153.2%), and Tabarka-Aïn Draham International Airport (58.1%).
The OACA statistics also report a 6.3% increase in commercial air traffic ("aircraft movements") during the first five months of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023, with 28,097 aircraft movements recorded.
For aircraft movements, the increase was 6.8% for Tunis-Carthage International Airport (22,034 movements), 6.4% for Djerba-Zarzis International Airport (4,386), and 0.6% for Sfax-Thyna International Airport (1,373).
Tozeur-Nefta International Airport recorded a remarkable 70.1% growth in "aircraft movements," while Tabarka-Aïn Draham International Airport experienced a 15.6% decrease.
Furthermore, the overflight traffic (aircraft transiting through Tunisian airspace) reached 24,902 movements during the first two months of 2024, representing a 20.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
