Tunisia Ranks 86th in Trace Bribery Risk Matrix 2023

Tunisia has been ranked 86th out of 194 jurisdictions evaluated in the latest edition of the Trace Bribery Risk Matrix 2023, with a score of 47, as revealed by Trace International.

Launched in 2014, the Trace Bribery Risk Matrix measures corruption risks across various territories. The report assigns a risk score to each territory based on four main criteria:

  • Interactions between businesses and government
  • Deterrence and enforcement of anti-corruption measures
  • Transparency in government and public service
  • Civil society's ability to supervise, including the role of the media

Globally, North Korea, Turkmenistan, Syria, Equatorial Guinea, and Yemen present the highest commercial bribery risk, while Norway, New Zealand, Switzerland, Sweden, and Denmark have the lowest.

At the African level, the countries with the lowest commercial bribery risk are Seychelles (36th) and South Africa (56th), followed by Cape Verde (62nd), Lesotho (65th), and Botswana (73rd).

Tunisia is ranked 10th at the continental level and 3rd at the Arab level, preceded only by Jordan (69th) and the United Arab Emirates (79th).
