Tozeur Prepares for a New Phase of Tourist Development
Tozeur is gearing up for a new phase of tourist development. During the Regional Tourism Council, various stakeholders in the sector agreed on several measures to improve the attractiveness of the destination and support its growth.
Priorities for Development
The first priority is to strengthen the air service at Tozeur-Nefta International Airport. Professional meetings will be organized with airlines and international tour operators to study the possibility of opening additional flights from several European markets.
Support for Tourist Municipalities
The participants also decided to continue supporting tourist municipalities to improve cleanliness, develop public spaces, and enhance priority tourist sites. Municipalities are invited to submit structural projects that can benefit from the Fund for the Protection of Tourist Areas.
New Measures Announced
Other measures announced include:
- Facilitating the organization of activities and events outside of tourist establishments
- Integrating the Castilia artisanal city into tourist circuits to increase its visibility to visitors
Accelerating Procedures and Supporting Cultural Events
The Council also emphasized the need to:
- Accelerate the classification procedures for new tourist municipalities
- Support festivals and cultural events, which are considered important levers for boosting tourist attendance and promoting the region's heritage
Monitoring and Implementation
Finally, the authorities decided to establish regular monitoring of the recommendations from the Regional Tourism Council and workshops held in Tozeur, to ensure the effective implementation of planned projects and measures.
