The Tozeur region has experienced a significant surge in tourist numbers from September 11-20, 2024, with a 22.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
Night Stays Also on the Rise
The number of night stays in the region has also seen a notable increase of 19.8%. These figures, announced by the Regional Commissioner for Tourism in Tozeur, Adel Sbita, bode well for a promising tourist season for the rest of the year.
Projected 14% Increase in Visitors by Year-End
According to Sbita, this trend is expected to continue, with a projected 14% increase in visitors by the end of 2024. The growth is largely attributed to the rich cultural and sporting activities planned for the last three months of the year.
Efforts Needed to Ensure a Successful Tourist Season
However, to guarantee a successful tourist season, additional efforts are necessary. The Regional Commissioner for Tourism, in collaboration with local municipalities, must intensify preparations by taking care of infrastructure and tourist spaces.
Improving Transportation Links a Key Challenge
Improving transportation links also remains a crucial challenge to ensure the smooth running of the tourist season. The region already benefits from four weekly flights between the Tunisian capital and Tozeur. However, the return of the international Tozeur-Paris route, usually operated by French airline Transavia, is eagerly awaited.
