Tozeur's Tourist Capacity Boosted with Reopening of Four Hotels
The tourist accommodation capacity in Tozeur has been strengthened with the reopening of four hotels that were closed over the past two years.
Announcement and Context
This announcement was made by the Minister of Tourism during a working visit to the Tozeur governorate, which concluded with the holding of the Regional Tourism Council in the presence of regional authorities, sector professionals, and representatives of the concerned hotel establishments.
Current Dynamics and Challenges
According to the ministry, this reopening reflects the current dynamic of the Saharan destination. However, the Minister called for the acceleration of the reopening of other hotel units that are still closed and the removal of obstacles faced by investors. The issue of closed hotels occupied an important place in the discussions, with participants examining the financial and administrative difficulties hindering the recovery of certain tourist structures.
Solutions and Future Plans
In this context, it was decided to establish a joint commission to monitor the files of closed establishments, in coordination with banks and other concerned parties. The objective is to facilitate their reintegration into the economic and tourist circuit and support investment in the region. The Minister also emphasized the continuation of the rehabilitation and enhancement program for the Ong Jmel tourist site, considered one of the main tourist and cultural attractions of Tozeur.
