Tunisia Launches National Platform for Self-Employed Entrepreneurs

During his appearance on Mosaïque FM, Mohamed El Kefi Rahmani, project manager for self-employment at the Ministry of Employment, revealed the details of the new national platform dedicated to self-employed entrepreneurs. This initiative aims to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and personal initiative, while simplifying administrative procedures, expanding social coverage, and supporting economic development.

Eligibility Criteria

To register, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be of Tunisian nationality.
  • Engage in individual activity in one of the defined sectors: industrial, commercial, agricultural, services, craftsmanship, or trades.
  • Have an annual turnover of 75,000 TND or less.
  • Have a physical address (residence).
  • Practice an activity listed on the legal list of eligible activities.

Note that individuals with a patent are not eligible, unless it was closed before the decree of June 10, 2020. Freelancers will be able to register starting from 2025.

Key Benefits

One of the major advantages of this platform is the exemption from the single contribution during the first year of activity. During this period, the National Employment Fund covers the payment of social security contributions, providing financial support to new self-employed entrepreneurs.

Obligations

Registered individuals must declare their quarterly turnover. Failure to comply with the prescribed conditions will result in exclusion from the platform.

Target Audience

The platform is open to various profiles, including:

  • Private sector employees seeking to engage in a complementary activity.
  • Retirees looking to maintain a professional activity.
  • Student entrepreneurs wanting to develop their projects while pursuing their studies.

Broader Objective

This project is part of a larger effort to revitalize the Tunisian entrepreneurial ecosystem. By simplifying access to self-employment status and offering concrete benefits, this initiative aims to stimulate the creation of new businesses and economic opportunities.
