Summer is Coming: Why Not Consider Thailand, the Land of Smiles?

As summer approaches, have you planned your next trip? Why not consider Thailand, the land of smiles, this summer season? The country has implemented a set of measures and guidelines, proposed by the Election Commission in three phases, to increase the number of visitors this summer and stimulate the economy and tourism.

Visa Facilitation Measures

Among these measures are facilities for obtaining visas, according to Chai Watcharong, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office. These facilities concern tourists, third-cycle students, remote workers, and retirees.

No Visa Required for Stays Under 30 Days

No visa is required for stays under 30 days in Thailand. From June, this duration will be extended by an additional 30 days on-site. The visa exemption measures (a short-term measure) will be applied to an expanded list of 93 countries, up from 57 currently. The complete list of eligible countries will be communicated soon. Note that Tunisians must apply for a visa to enter Thailand, except for diplomats (90-day stay), under a bilateral agreement.

Thailand Welcomes 4.39 Million Foreign Tourists

Thailand has welcomed 4.39 million foreign tourists between January 1 and February 11, 2024, a 48% increase compared to the previous year, with China as the main source market. In fact, the top countries of origin for visitors to Thailand are Malaysia, China, South Korea, India, and Russia. Recall that Thailand and China signed a mutual visa exemption agreement in January, allowing for a maximum stay of 30 days. This policy came into effect on March 1, 2024.

Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) System

Furthermore, the country plans to introduce an electronic travel authorization (ETA) system by June 2025 for foreign travelers exempt from visas (a long-term measure).

So, why not consider Thailand, the land of smiles, for your next summer trip?
